About Pediatric Chiropractic Care
Children of all ages can benefits from gentle chiropractic care as they grow and develop!
Birth can be physically demanding for babies, even during smooth deliveries. Gentle chiropractic care for newborns uses very light pressure to help relieve tension and stress that may develop in the spine, neck, and nervous system during pregnancy and birth. Many parents seek care to help their baby feel more comfortable, relaxed, and settled overall. By supporting proper nervous system function, chiropractic care may also help babies regulate more easily with sleep, feeding, digestion, and general comfort as they adjust to life outside the womb.
Gentle chiropractic care can support children and teens as they grow, develop, and stay active throughout childhood and adolescence. Kids experience many physical stresses from sports, heavy backpacks, falls, screen time, and everyday activities, which can place strain on the spine, muscles, and nervous system. Chiropractic care uses gentle, age-appropriate techniques to help improve mobility, posture, balance, and overall comfort. Many parents also notice benefits such as improved body awareness, better sleep, easier recovery from physical activity, and support for overall wellness as their child’s body continues to grow and change.
Pediatric chiropractic care is carefully tailored to each child’s age, size, and individual needs. Techniques used for children are extremely gentle and designed to support healthy movement, comfort, and overall nervous system regulation. Treatments focus on restoring proper alignment and function to help support the nervous system, by helping improve communication between the brain and the body. Adjustments for babies require very minimal pressure and generally conclude with baby feeling soothed and relaxed.
Chiropractic Bodywork Care for Babies with Lip or Tongue Tie
Ankyloglossia is a condition that occurs when the connective tissues (frenula) under the tongue or behind the upper lip are abnormally short, thick, or tight. If that skin is too tight, it restricts the infant's ability to be able to comfortably latch onto the mother's breast, resulting in painful, ineffective, and often times inefficient nursing. Inefficient nursing may affect an infant’s ability to gain weight steadily if they are not taking in enough milk during feedings.
A laser revision (frenectomy) may be done to help remove those restrictions. Laser revisions are quick and painless. Referrals are listed here.
Chiropractic bodywork for infants may be beneficial both before and after a frenectomy procedure. Following a tongue or lip tie revision, babies often experience a significant increase in oral mobility and may need time to adapt to new patterns of movement and feeding.
Gentle bodywork can help support the infant’s comfort, coordination, and proper oral function during this transition. Because infants learn feeding patterns quickly, many families notice meaningful improvements as the baby adjusts, including a more effective latch, greater comfort during nursing, and a more positive bonding experience for both mother and baby.
